सुदूर पश्चिम क्षेत्रका १५ र मध्य पश्चिम क्षेत्रका १० ओटा सामुदायिक क्याम्पसहरुलाई सोही क्षेत्रका विश्वविद्यालयको आङ्गिक क्याम्पसहरुको रुपमा विस्तार गर्ने सम्बन्धमा अध्ययन गर्न गठित कार्यटोलीले विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोगका अध्यक्षज्यू समक्ष प्रतिवेदन पेश गरेको छ । आयोगको मिति २०७३ फागुन २३ को निर्णयानुसार गठित कार्यटोलीको संयोजकको रुपमा आयोगका सदस्य-सचिव प्रा.डा. देवराज अधिकारीज्यू हुनुहुन्थ्यो भने विज्ञको रुपमा प्रा.डा. पुष्कर बज्राचार्य र प्रा. गुणनिधि न्यौपाने हुनुहुन्थ्यो । साथै, कार्यटोलीको अन्य सदस्यमा अर्थ मन्त्रालयका उपसचिव श्री जगदिश्वर उपाध्याय, शिक्षा मन्त्रालयका अधिकृत श्री गोपालनारायण श्रेष्ठ र आयोगका सूचना अधिकृत श्री देबेन्द्र रावल हुनुहुन्थ्यो । कार्यटोलीले आङ्गिक क्याम्पसको रुपमा प्रस्तावित ती सामुदायिक क्याम्पसहरुकोे स्थलगत अध्ययनका साथै सम्बन्धित विश्वविद्यालयका पदाधिकारी, क्याम्पस संचालन समितिका पदाधिकारी, शिक्षक, विद्यार्थी लगाएत अन्य सरोकारवालाहरुसंगको छलफलका आधारमा प्रतिवेदन तयार गरेको हो ।

विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोगले आयोगका सदस्य-सचिव प्रा.डा. देवराज अधिकारीको संयोजकत्ममा एक ४ सदस्यीय मध्यपश्चिमाञ्चल विश्वविद्यालय, सुर्खेतको दरबन्दी अध्ययन समिति गठन गरेकोमा सो समितिले आयोगका अध्यक्षज्यू समक्ष मिति २०७४ जेष्ठ ४ गते आफ्नो प्रतिवेदन बुझाएको छ । समितिका सदस्यहरुमा त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय सेरडिका सह प्रा. हरिप्रसाद उपाध्याय, शिक्षा मन्त्रालय उच्चशिक्षा शाखाका उप सचिव श्री राधाकृष्ण घिमिरे र सदस्य-सचिवमा अनुदान आयोगका कम्प्युटर अधिकृत श्री डम्बरलाल श्रेष्ठ रहनु भएको थियो । यस अघि पनि सोही समितिले कृषि तथा वन विज्ञान विश्वविद्यालयको आंगिक क्याम्पस प्राकृतिक स्रोत व्यवस्थापन कलेज, पुरुञ्चौर, कास्कीको दबन्दी अध्ययन समितिले आफ्नो प्रतिवेदन आयोग समक्षा प्रस्तुत गरेको थियो ।

As the Chairperson of the Governing Board of South Asian University (SAU), Prof. Dr. Parashar Prasad Koirala, Chairman of UGC Nepal, participated in the first Convocation of the SAU held on 11th June, 2016 in New Delhi. The convocation was chaired by, Mr. Kamal Thapa, then Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. He participated as an invited guest to chair the program. Prof. Koirala chaired the Convocation. As the Chairperson of Governing Board, he requested the chief guest to declare the convocation open. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Kavita A. Sharma, President of SAU. As it was the first convocation of the university, the students of five different batches were awarded degrees. A total of 450 students received their degrees, while 31 of them received SAU Gold Medals for their excellent academic performance. During the convocation, 67 Nepali students received graduation certificates. Among them three students--Dibya Ghimire (Biotechnology, 2011-13), Slok Gyawali (International Relation, 2012-14), and Dhrubaraj Adhikari (International Relation, 2012-14)— received SAU Gold Medals. SAU is an international university established by the eight member States of SAARC—Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The university offers post-graduate and doctoral programmes in various disciplines, including Development Economics, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Sociology, International Relations and Law.

University Grants Commission has recently made the decision to disburse grants to the community campuses to develop physical facilities, strengthen libraries and to purchase books and equipments. The grant accounts for the fiscal year 2072/73. The total amount of the grants amounted to Rs.12 corers. A total of one hundred thirty one campuses have been selected for the grants in this fiscal year. The grants under these programs are provided to enhance the capability and infrastructure of community campuses in every fiscal year so as to enable them to impart quality education. The grants are provided to expand physical facilities such as classrooms and library rooms. The Commission also provides grants to community campuses to purchase books to enrich their libraries. Under the scheme, campuses receive fund to purchase computers to help them efficiently execute administrative and academic activities through a systematic use of information technology. To receive this support, the campuses must apply within the stipulated deadline; the grant received under this category must only be used for purchasing computers. The grant receiving campuses are selected on the basis of a submitted proposal, number of faculty, number of students, location of the campus and the student passing rate. However, for a campus to receive grants for the construction of a building, it must have enrolled at least 75 students.
